Exide Successfully Migrates Data Center to Nashville

A year-long planning process recently came to fruition for Exide’s Global IT Infrastructure team.

“I am pleased to report that our data center migration from Seattle to Nashville has been a great success,” said Mohammad Zahid, Sr. Director, Global IT Infrastructure. “A year ago we embarked on this project to move our data center and it is now complete with no major issues.”

A data center migration, or data center relocation, is the process of moving an existing data center environment to another data center operating environment. It is a comprehensive process that systematically plans for migrating the existing data center to a new facility or site.

According to Zahid, the migration to Nashville is beneficial for our customers and employees. The move and related system upgrades has added significant efficiencies for our plants and to applications used by employees across the Company. 

“For example, we are already seeing evidence of systems in our plants and our business applications running significantly faster, which results in increased efficiencies for all Exide users,” explained Zahid. “These types of efficiency improvements then trickle down to benefit our customers.”

Zahid also reports that over the course of the past year leading up to the data center migration, a comprehensive IT Disaster Recovery plan was implemented and tested. This will allow Exide resiliency in terms of up-time and access for critical applications in case of a catastrophic event.   

“The amount of details involved in a project of this magnitude is often overwhelming,” said Mohammad. “I would like to thank the entire Infrastructure Team, plant staff, our project managers, and our strategic partners for making this project successful. It was an enormous team effort.”
