Exide Continues Sponsorship of Johnny
Benson in the #23 NASCAR Craftsman Truck
May 2008
Exide will continue its relationship
with
Bill Davis Racing and
Johnny Benson for the 2008 NASCAR season as the
primary sponsor on the #23 truck for five races, and as
an associate sponsor on all three of the Bill Davis
Racing Tundras for the full NASCAR Craftsman Truck
schedule. The #23 Exide truck will make its 2008 debut
at the NC Education Lottery 200 in
Charlotte
on May 16. The #23 truck will also be sporting the Exide
paint scheme in Michigan (June 14), Bristol (August 20),
Las Vegas (September 20), and Homestead (November 14).
Johnny and the #23 team had a very successful 2007
racing season. Not only did JB make another run for the
Championship, but for the second year in a row - he was
voted "Most Popular Driver" by NASCAR fans. Benson has
been a steady competitor in the Craftsman Truck Series
garage for the last four years. The NASCAR veteran
always has a positive attitude, and his willingness to
promote Exide, NASCAR, and the Truck Series is
infectious. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native is a crowd
favorite and understands that his life-long dream of
racing in NASCAR has come true in part due to the
support of his sponsors and NASCAR's devoted fans.
Bill Davis Racing's Toyota Tundra trio,
Mike Skinner,
Johnny Benson and rookie
Scott Speed, are on a mission
this season. A Bill Davis Racing team has finished
second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship
standings the past two seasons, and all three teams are
vying for a shot at the title this year.
"Bill Davis's truck program has proven to be the one to
beat week in and week out over the years," said Benson,
who finished second in NCTS points in 2006 and third in
2007. "This year, Bill Davis Racing as an organization
has a goal and that is to bring Bill Davis his first
NASCAR Championship. We will do everything in our power
to make that happen."
We look forward to another successful season with Johnny
Benson in the driver's seat of our #23 NASCAR Craftsman
Truck! All races will be broadcast live on the
SPEED
Channel. Check your local listings for times.
