Exide Technologies to Exhibit at AAPEX 2006

Alpharetta, Georgia - (October 26, 2006) - Exide Technologies (NASDAQ: XIDE, www.exide.com), a global leader in stored electrical-energy solutions, will have a significant presence next week in Las Vegas at AAPEX, the annual business-to-business trade show representing the $250 billion North American retail and service aftermarket.

Featuring more than 2,000 exhibitors, AAPEX is jointly sponsored by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). As one of the largest global manufacturers of lead-acid batteries for transportation and specialty applications, Exide will use the AAPEX venue to feature the Company’s innovation and progress in products and aftermarket services. The Company also will unveil other new products for the heavy-duty, marine and power sport markets.

A 23-member team from Exide’s Transportation business division will staff the Company’s exhibit in space #4622 on the upper level – located on the Automotive Parkway – under the relevant theme It All Starts Here. Visitors to the display will have the opportunity to discuss the Company’s new products and technologies with Exide Transportation team representatives including E.J. O’Leary, President, Transportation – Americas, Jim Jelin, Vice-President of Marketing and Retail Sales, and Jeff Barna, Vice President - U.S. Aftermarket Sales and Branch Operations, Export, Mexico.

Among the products to be showcased at the Exide exhibit are the Marathon® and Exide NASCAR® Extreme™ batteries, premium offerings that deliver the latest advances in technology, durability and warranty. “Designed for the automotive aftermarket, these newest additions to the Exide automotive battery lineup appeal to owners of high end vehicles and to those who value the best warranty in the business, as well as power and dependability,” said Jim Jelin.

Both the Marathon® and the Exide NASCAR® Extreme™ batteries are engineered to deliver optimal performance in even the harshest conditions. Because high heat and vibration are the leading causes of premature battery failure, the technology used in both products has been tested and proven under these extreme conditions in taxi fleets in Las Vegas and Phoenix. In these environments, it consistently lasted longer than other lead calcium batteries.

“Exide’s presence at AAPEX 2006 positions our Company as both the partner of choice for our aftermarket customers as well as a global producer and service provider on the forefront of technological innovation,” said E.J. O’Leary.

AAPEX 2006 opens in Las Vegas on October 31 and runs through November 2. More information is available at www.aaiwshow.com, www.aapexshow.com, and at www.exide.com.
