Alpharetta, Ga. – (May 11, 2006) –
Exide Technologies (NASDAQ: XIDE, www.exide.com)
a global leader in stored electrical-energy
solutions, today announced the appointment of
Barbara Hatcher as Executive Vice President and
General Counsel for Exide Technologies.
Ms. Hatcher brings more than 20 years of
corporate legal practice experience to this
position, the last eight of which have been in
the battery manufacturing and distribution
business. She joined Exide in 2000 through the
Company’s acquisition of GNB Technologies Inc.
At GNB, she served as Vice President and General
Counsel. Most recently, she held the position of
Deputy General Counsel for Exide. In this
position she had global responsibility for
mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property,
business agreements, customer relations,
advertising and product integrity.
“During the last several months as Acting
General Counsel, Barbara has served Exide
admirably, quickly filling a need created with
the departure of previous counsel,” said Gordon
Ulsh, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Exide Technologies. “In her new capacity, she
will continue to provide outstanding leadership,
guidance and support to the organization.”
Ms. Hatcher received her undergraduate degree
from the University of New Hampshire in
political science and journalism and her JD from
the Wake Forest University School of Law.
