to Discuss Results for Third Quarter FY 2006

Alpharetta, Ga. - (January 27, 2006) Exide Technologies (NASDAQ: XIDE,
www.exide.com), announced today that it will conduct a conference call with the investment community on February 9, 2006 to discuss its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2006, which ended December 31, 2005.
The call, which will be hosted by Exide President and CEO Gordon A. Ulsh and other members of senior management, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
